Sustainability
At Raynham Primary School, we recognise that sustainability is essential to ensure a good quality of life for everyone without causing irreversible damage to the planet for future generations. This requires a careful balancing of lifestyle, social equity and care for the environment.
The whole school community at Raynham Primary School are becoming increasingly aware of their responsibility to promote and practise sustainable development. As a school, we have a special role to play in securing the future for young people; as a place of learning, we can help pupils understand our impact on the planet and, through ‘leading by example,’ are well placed to demonstrate sustainable living and working to pupils and the wider community alike.
At Raynham Primary School, we are keen to work towards improving our positive effects on the environment and reducing our adverse effects.

Our Journey So Far…
We are proud to have achieved the TfL Gold Stars Award in September 2021. We are also working towards Eco-Schools Green Flag Award and Intermediate International Schools Award.
We have an Eco-Schools Committee that works in collaboration with our House/Vice House captains. We meet at least once each half term. Our current focus is on Transport, Global Citizenship and School Grounds. Below is a link to our action plan towards achieving the Green Flag Award as well as a video about air pollution, which is linked with our target to transport.
Over the last few years, we have collaborated with the other schools within Children First Academy and clusters of Nepal schools through Nepal Partnership. Explore some of the activities we have done published in the Nepal Partnership Padlet.
This academic year we have also established the Edmonton Partnership between our school, Constable Daniel Woodall Primary School in Edmonton, Canada and Public Schools Archives and Museum in Edmonton, Canada.
We are also proud to work in partnership with Trees for Cities which are supporting us in developing greener space in our playground, focusing on reducing air pollution, having outdoor learning space and growing our own vegetable and fruit produce. This gives our children many opportunities to plant trees, plants and a range of herbs and vegetables.
Explore some of the great things we have done this academic year so far through stories featured in our Raynham Sustainability Newspaper, published in February 2023.
